I have nothing against a 400 engine, guess you would have had to been there
to have the feeling, 400s came out in 72, and all of us that loved the big block
mopars knew what was happening, it was the first year that the government said
that all engines would now operate on low lead fuel, which meant lower
compression ratios, and Ma Mopar came out with the 400 which was just an
overbored 383, and the cars needed the extra cubic inches to get the power
to stay where they were already at with the 383s, this is also the first year
for all engine to be rated with an SAE net HP versus the Brake HP ratings of
previous years which also helped to confuse things,,,,,,,,,,, at any rate,
everytime I hear 400,,,, Smog engine is what comes to mind, and no I would not
brag about having one,,,,,, and no 454 hybirds are not smog engines,,,,,,,

I think Dodger was referring to that specific 1964 Plymouth, because when you opened that car's hood the guy had a "400" sticker on the air cleaner. -- -- Please address private email -- email of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
