David, The key is the VIN. Darrel Davis has a series of books that list the VIN of every MW produced. Most were raced and many blocks were ruined and replaced. Generally the VIN is regarded as whether the car is original MW or a clone. For deeper confirmation, from the VIN you can the broadcast sheet and from that you can confirm build numbers stamped both on the radiator support and on the metal bracing underneath the rear window package tray. If you have the VIN, I can look it up for you. - Jim Jim Altemose, Long Island, NY '63 Polara 500 (Max Wedge) '63 Polara 500 (383) '65 Belvedere I (Street Wedge) '71 Bronco On Thu, Jul 12, 2012 at 9:34 AM, David <torquechap@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Looking at a '63 Maxie and the owner is not very forthcoming about any info > on the car.
