Ah, but what does the VIN on your Dodge decode as? The DMV may have grouped models and titled it as a Polara but the VIN from Dodge is quite specific about the model. I think a 1964 V8 Dodge's first vin is 6 and the second number a 2 for a 440 or a 3 for a Polara or a 4 for a Polara 500.
I agree with you about lazy dealer habits.
