On '64 and earlier units the brake drum is swedged to the hub.
Essentially they are one unit. Your driver's side has obviously been
replaced with a '65 or later drum at this point. However the other
side is still stock. Here is a link to a wiki article I wrote on how

) It's pretty easy to do and will save you $$$ if you ever have to
replace a drum. There is no good reason to swap out a tapered axle
unit for a street car. They are just as strong as the later 8.75
units. Now, if you're going racing and will be messing with the
gearing on a regular basis, yes the later model axles are easier to
pull but other than that they offer little advantage. Read the
article, it will help you make the decision to keep it or swap it
out.
