Re: 1965 Factory Max Wedge - Was: 1965 Satellite engine options

Many of the experts say there was never a 65 Belvedere I hemi superstock car with black interior. I know a guy that has one with black interior, and it was shown in a 65 magazine of the day with black interior.
Many also say only racers could buy a 64 Hemi SS car.
I know that's not true, because I had a brother-in -law that ordered one.
It arrived at AC Hickman dodge in Port Arthur, Tx. in 1964.
Never say never.

This issue of a '65 Max Wedge keeps popping up. I think I'll contact Jim

None of the pretty extensive collection of dealer's stuff I have mentions the
Max Wedge as an option. NHRA does not show a listing for one. My thought is that
a dealer threw one or some in a car. Would not have been a tremendous problem, I
guess, to take a production engine out and install a replacement Max Wedge in a
car - remember, this is 1965 were talking about and the last official Max Wedge
cars were only a year in the past. Mr. Norm, for example, sold a lot of uniquely
optioned cars with dealer installed stuff. Akron Don Gallimore

Actually there were a very few 1965 Belvedere's built with the Max Wedge motor
.
The Hemi, the 426 Street Wedge, and the 383., and a very, very few Max Wedge
motors.
I've seen only one.

This months Hemming Muscle Machines has a cover story comparing a 1965
Satellite to a 1965 GTO. The article says that beyond the 383 in
power, the only other engine choice was the Max Wedge. In 1965, I
didn't think the Max Wedge was available. I'd have thought you'd have
a choice of both a 426 Street Wedge or a 426 Hemi. Am I wrong or is
the article?
