Re: Parts to make a Street Wedge FAST!?

If that is a true 426W engine, save it for future reinstall when you get done
playing.

I think a $10,000 budget is close to getting you into the 11's.  Look at the
"crate" engines from Indy, Muscle Motors, Koefel and others.  I think you need
to have over 500 to 600 HP to get deep into the 11's. My 3750# Belvedere has
about 475 flywheel HP and is knock on the door of sub 12 second runs - 12.16
best. Or build your own motor using the Don Dulmage "Old Reliable: engine. Indy
list a 500 cu in 9.5 to 1 motor with 525Hp for $8,750, pan to carb, for example.

Your existing headers look large enough to handle the HP - 2"?

Tranny and torque converter will run about $2,500. Use a ratchet shifter -
you'll never skip over a gear. Gearing will be 4.10 and higher ratio.  And
slicks.  I use 29.5 by 9" and have no traction problem with 3800# SS Springs.
You might need to go to 10,5 but that will likely require you to move the
springs inboard - more money. I have a spare set of 9" slicks for a stick car if
you want to get a set cheaper to try out but shipping from Akron, Ohio could
make them too expensive.

Regardless, you must at least tie the frame together.  Lastly, if you go 11.50
or faster, rules require that you need a roll bar/cage.  I don't want to mess up
my car with the roll bar and have decided I only want to go just under 12 flat.
