Re: I'm stuck in a parking lot - starter relay?

It lives in the transmission, screws into the left side.
The brown wire from the relay attaches to it.
They rarely go bad.

P.S.

Good info on the neutral safety switch. Where does it live? Are they
prone to going bad? Sounds like something else I should keep a spare
of in my trunk.

Yeah, we had a good time.

With the shorting of the 2 blade terminals and turning the key, I got
it to start. Thanks for the tip. That let me drive to Napa to get a
new relay. Problem solved. Threw me a couple hours behind schedule,
but no big.

I took my 8 year old up to 6 Flags New England. Long Island to
Springfield Mass. by way of Port Jeff / Bridgeport ferry across the
Long Island Sound. 150 car miles or so.

It was great meeting Nick. His two 63 Fury's are AWESOME. Both so
clean I'd feel dirty eating off them.  One's a beautiful Max Wedge;
really really nice. The others a white 318 Poly which Nick drove up
to the show. It was the first time he fired it up for the season and
it started right up instantly. I followed him and I'm here to tell
you it sounded strong. I have a new found appreciation for Polys.
Nick also had a beautiful barn / man cave dedicated to it with cool
stuff everywhere. After seeing Nick's nicely displayed 100 or so
trophies, now my kid wants one ;)

Fun stuff.

Yesterday was a good day, I received a call from Jim Altemose that he would
be passing by my home when heading north with his son for a little R&R. As
planned Jim showed up at my house with his cool 63' Polara 500. After
checking out my toys& car barn we decided to check out a local cruise
night. My 63' Fury and Jim's 63' Polara did the local show& shine for
awhile then he was off to make a few more miles on his trip.

Well we all know what happened this morning.....I just spoke with Jim, he
replaced the starter relay and the car was running well. He was back in my
area having a nice dinner then off to catch the ferry back to the Island.
Once home I'm sure he'll be planning his next adventure.

Jim, it was a pleasure meeting you and your son, it's nice to put a face
with a name from the 62-65 Mopar Group.

Subject: I'm stuck in a parking lot - starter relay?

I drove my 63 Polara 500 up to Manchester Connecticut (near Hartford)
for an overnight trip. Now I'm stuck in the parking lot and it won't
start. Battery and electric seem good; lights work and I have a jump
box. The symptom is when I turn the key, the oil light comes on but
nothing at all from the starter. No noise at all. I tried a
different ballast resistor (I carry a spare). I tried re-seating all
the connectors. I tried cleaning the battery terminals. I guess all
that's left is the starter relay? I'm trying to find a local parts
store that has one.

I have a spare starter relay, but just realized it's the wrong one.
The car has 2 blade connectors and 2 bolt connectors. The spare has 5
blade connectors.

I guess I'm hoping someone has some bit of magic for me to try.
