Re: 440 noise

Pulled covers checked rockers, they are Rock solid. The push rods spin with a little drag like they are supposed to. I noticed two dents in the valve cover where rockers were hitting the baffle in the back of cover. I took a hammer and dented it in just a tad. I ran it without cover, still hear the same thing. Everything looked great though. I put cover back on and it was a lot quieter, and the motor hasn't even got to 130 degrees yet. Got good oil flow thru all the rockers. It was just beautiful haha. Hmmm so now what? Leave it alone and just enjoy it? Or worry about it and scream Whyyyyy and get it looked at? Should I change oil to a 15-40 instead of the 2050 Val syn? Trying to weigh options without having to pull intake and valley and all that jazz :-/

Is it louder when you start it up cold and maybe get quieter or go away? Could be a sticky lifter. I had that issue with a Dakota 318 Magnum. I put in some NAPA Valve and Lifter lube and it worked like a charm.  The noise went right away.
