Motor trouble

I went by a buddy's today he's building a 65 coronet and put in a 440. We fired it up, let it idle for a little while, while we played with his other car. We turned it off and went back a little while later, and nothing. Turns over, but it seems like its not getting gas or spark. We don't smell gas when we try to start, carb looked dry, so he poured a tiny bit in to see if it was fuel issue, no start. We got tired of messing with it so we pushed it back into the garage, anyone have an idea? It has an electronic ignition that's pretty much brand new, you can dial in rev limiter blah blah. No problems before, just out of nowhere.
