Re: leaf springs

The rear spring parts are the same for R and W car lines. Only the
wagons have unique parts. As for the springs themselves, convertibles
and wagons used different rear leaf springs from all the other models.

The difference in wheelbase normally was due to length added to the
floor pan just ahead of the rear seat. But in the case of the R and W
models, the floor pan extension is the same for both.

The 1965-68 C-body Fury, except wagons, was advertised as having a
119" wheelbase while the 1969-73 models was 120". For 1965-73 the
Fury was shown as having a 119.5" wheelbase in engineering dimension
drawings. These same drawings also showed Polara/Moinaco with a
121.5" wheelbase, Chrysler at 123.5" and the C-body 1967-73 Imperial
at 126.5" All advertising material listed the wheelbases at 121" for
1965-66 Dodge, 122" for the 1967-73 Dodge, 124" for non-wagon
Chryslers and 127" for 1967-73 Imperials.

So, the difference in wheelbase may have been in the minds of the
advertising/marketing people. Dodge was supposed to be bigger than
the Plymouth, and the a/m people made it so.

Extending the floor pan was a Chrysler trick dating back to at least
1934, as was extending the hood..

That is, send parts/car transactions and negotiations as well as other personal messages only to the intended recipient, not to the Clubhouse public address. This practice will protect your privacy, reduce the total volume of mail and fine tune the content signal to Mopar topic. Thanks!
