Re: Another pushbutton car in the shop

The aluminum cased units, T-35, were also used in 4-cylinder Brirish
Ford, Austin, Morris, MG, Wolseley, Riley, Hillman, Sunbeam, and a
number of other British and French cars.

They were all 3-speed units with the cast iron case units starting in
2nd gear in Drive and Low being first. From the driver's seat they
looked like 2 speed units with quadrants P-R-N-D-L or P-N-D-L-R. The
transmissions were designed and built by the Warner Gear Division of
Borg-Warner, which is how other manufacturers were able to use the
unit.

Pushbuttons were used in 1957 Mercury and Monarch, 1958 Mercury and
Edsel, and 1958-62 Ramblers, except the American. All but the Edsel
used the same button layout.
