Re: Barn Find!

It's one thing to be skeptical. Quite another to rain on the guys' parade. It's a beautiful car and if it can't disproved it has only 777 miles on it just let it be. I agree with Roger. There will always be nitpickers and naysayers tearing a car down like this. If you're not buying it,don't worry about it. Just my opinion.

Look down at the hold down bolts and the circle of dirt around them . oil grime  I would suspect. It is just amazing the car goes thru two owners and then given to grand son  777 miles RIGHT.  maybe 100777. ok but not 777.  believe what you want, show me the service records etc but beware when it comes up for sale with 777 miles only. still a great looking car

Eric,
It is all good, build it the way you want it and drive it like you stole it. There are no rules in Hot Rodding. Sounds cool to me, especially the back-up camera. Have fun.

Purists will hate what I do to my car.  Disc brakes dual master cylinder wrong paint job.  Heated leather power bucket seats front and rear anti roll bars a backup camera rear view mirror remote door unlock and a stereo that goes boom..... well tough I'm the 1 that have to drive it everyday.  Hahahaha.  1962 chrysler newport is only worth so much money no matter what you do to it it's not a Highly sought after car. If I was doing all this to a rare 300 letter h then yeah I deserve to be shot.

I agree, also did I miss something, I do not remember it being for sale in the first place, and as to casting the first stone,,,,,, be sure you have something better before condemning others, this is why I do not show my vehicles unless requested , to many times I have been at shows as a spectator and listened to the tire kickers cut down someones pride and joy  by what they think is correct and proper,,

Guess my 60 year old eyes don't see as well anymore.  I/m not seeing
any grime on the valve covers.  There is some discoloration on the
intake manifold but with cast iron that's to be expected.  And it
looks like something has pooled on the valley pan.  Again after 50
years I'm not surprised.  To the question of aluminum bellhousings I
had one on my '61 Belevedere 3 spd. stick.  I remember well because I
cracked it and all I could find in the local salvage yards to replace
it with was cast iron.
