I'm going to try to fix it. If I can still turn the discs by hand, the alignment of the components must not be too far off. My idea is to insert a feeler gauge as I tighten the caliper bolts to determine which pad is grabbing the disc first. Hopefully that'll tell me in which way I need to correct the offset.
