Yeah if your wiring is messed up it will be a great help.  Wiring is pretty simple on these compared to newer cars.  Have you read about the charging upgrade for our cars?  You lose the amp gauge but you get a much better charging system.  It's a nice upgrade and will save you lots of headaches down the road.  Others know more about it than I do, but it's an easy upgrade.
