I did that, it sprays out... I'm thinking the carb is shot.... Think that could be the case?

losen the fitting on the carb and see if gas come out when your cranking
the car,,,,,,,,, if there was gas present more than likely the parts between the
tank and carb are working, usually a crack or hole in line will result in no
gas, only air,,,,,,,,
I took the carb off and on about 10 times in the last day.... Every time
There is gas in all parts connected... Gas in the fuel filter... Gas comes out
of the line attached to the carb when I disconnect it and gas in the carb
where the float is when I take it apart....

disconnected it from the fuel pump?
Yea
I didn't test it... It was only 40 bucks... Plus it was dirty and who
knows how old... I want to update everything on the car....
Hmmmm
any other ideas as to what is wrong with this thing?
