Re: 361 Engine suggestions

Eric, good point....just some of the things I've known and done for a long time that I take for granted that other peeps know. It can be your friend or your enemy.

If the car is stock, it's whatever it came with.  Your carb, if it's stock, is just fine for your motor.  A good rebuild and cleaning will keep your car happy.  If you want more zoom-zoom out of it, and want to do the carb swap, go with the 4 bbl intake and carb.  But you have to keep your foot out of it to keep the MPG close to what it is now.  If you do end up changing  the carb, be very sure you have a transmission shop adjust that rod that goes from the carb to the tranny.  If you keep it stock and do a rebuild, just take photos of where the linkage is hooked up so you can put it back where it goes with the adjustment it has now.  That rod controls the pressure in the transmission, if you have it out too far, it's set too low and you will burn up the tranny cause it doesn't have enough pressure in it.  If it's too far in it will shift hard, but it shouldn't kill it, it's just annoying.

somebody correct me if I'm wrong please, my mind isnt' what it used to be, esp after this week.....
