The starter thread reminded me of a friend of mine who went through 3 parts store purchased rebuilt V style AC compressors on his Mopar. The air blew cold for a while but in a relatively short time the refrigerant leaked out. He had all the system 100% and kept narrowing it down to the compressor being bad. Finally, he took apart the compressor and discovered that the rebuilders were using a generic O-ring for a seal in one section of the compressor instead of the correct rubber seal. He located the factory spec seal in a Mopar repair kit and put it in. Result: ice cold AC that is lasting.
