Re: 4 speed rebuild

Hello,

I have a 1963 Sport Fury that came with the T-10 and a 383 4B from the
factory. I had a little difficulty finding parts to rebuild the
transmission but I was able to get all of the parts except one from a
transmission parts supply house in Vegas. Sorry don't remember their
name but if you are interested contact me directly, we are currently
on vacation, I will get the information to you when I get home. The
only part I could not get from them I found at an old guy's bearing
place in Yuma on the shelf. I was the reverse idler bushing, per him
Chrysler never made the part available because they thought it would
never fail.

I rebuilt mine because it would jump out of gear, it was either 2nd or
3rd, forgot which and was leaking.

As for being strong in a street car I don't see a problem but draq
racing is probably a different story per my understanding in 63 for
engines larger than the 383 they used the 3 speed manual
transmission. If anyone has better information it would be
appreciated.

Looking back it may have been better to have gone the 833 route
although it would have required a differeng bell housing and Hurst
shifter unless I wanted to make a custom shift handle.
