My reply is NO! I'm involved with a guy who has a '66 Satellite that was a 383. They scrapped the 383 'cause the intake was missing and bought a 413 motorhome engine. There are myriads of issues. He abandoned that engine swap.
He then bought a 318LA and trans and it's a mess too. Dodger and I are going to try to get it running on Mon and Tues.. I don't hold much hope for it personally. It must be a truck engine as the oil pan is wrong so they dropped the tie-rod to make room. I guess it's a freewheeling type steering or should I say non-steering. It matches the 1 disc and 1 drum front brakes though. An incredible mismatch of parts.
Don't be afraid of the poly as it will be the easiest way out for you and more economical in the long run. Poly's are not cheap but compared to all the problems you will encounter they really aren't that expensive either. So my very heart felt response is don't mess with a motorhome engine!!!

Just been given a possible lead on an early 70's 413. It's in a motorhome that's being scrapped, supposed to be low miles, and in good shape. Should I be considering this, or just sticking with my plans to do another 318 poly?
