Re: 1964 Sport Fury side window glass replacement... painful

When I got my car last fall, one of the issues was that the track for one of the rear quarter windows had rusted out, so the previous owner had screwed a piece of sheet metal along with a liberal coating of what appeared to be undercoating or roofing tar to the old track in an effort to keep the glass in. Needless to say it didn't work very well, and looked like crap.

So I embarked upon the task of finding a rear quarter window for a 1964 Chrysler Newport CONVERTIBLE. Good luck, you say. After searched everywhere I could think of, I was at the local Auto Wreckers one day and remembered there is a website that has a parts database for Auto Wreckers (ok, letd be politically correct, Recyclers).

When I got home I went to www.car-part.com  and did a search, one yard in upstate New York had it. Actually, they had both sides. I call them, they had them, $200 (+ shipping) later I had BOTH drivers and passenger side quarter windows on the way.

They arrived a week later in perfect condition, no corrosion, scratches, really nice pieces.

Another resource to tap!

Jay

Take comfort that it was just the side glass.  Rear glass is the hard one to find.  So it can always be worse :)  All in all not too bad.  I've done much worse....much much worse... LOL

Well, some things are more painful than others. Breaking a driver's side door glass with the original penstar is one of those things. Anyone know of a source for original door windows, 1964 Sport fury. My passenger side glass has some scratches in it, so would take both if I can find them. Soon if possible.
Thanks   /Butch
