Jim,
My wife said I can't talk to anyone on any website that wants a picture of my rear end or is waffling between two 15 whatevers in the back. I told her I was talking about tires, she said that's nice, LOL. I lived in Eatons Neck & West Hempsted and never heard the term "waffling", at least not when tawk'en bout my caaws.
I like the old Super Stock drag look, attitude through altitude, I like 'em tall and wide. On both my 63's I'm running a 285/70R15, on a 7" rim. This makes them 11.5" wide, 31" tall, turning 675 RPM. On a 8" rim they would be 11.3" wide and 30.8" tall. The 7" wheel has 4 1/4" backspacing and uses and additional 3/8" spacer centering the wheel between the springs and fender with room to spare.
I've tried the 275/60R15, 28" tall at 743 RPM, but better yet were the 255/70R15 at 29" tall and 715 RPM. I just like the way my car stood with the 70 series more than the 60 series.
Up front both cars run 215/75R15 to keep the height and roll out well, some photos of the "car's rear" to help the visual.
