Ted, I have the complete distributor with the Flame Thrower III. I was told by Pertronix that their unit can handle any coil without a ballast resistor. Per the tech I talked to it is capable of limiting current internally and does not use the ballast resistor. Having said that, they are good about answering questions if you call and you may want to call they can discuss the wiring of the unit with you. The resistor that they are talking about is the ballast resistor on the firewall, there is no other resistor in the circuit. I left my resistor in place and just added a jumper around it, it seemed to keep the wiring clean and it does not look like something was removed from the firewall. There are little adapters that will push onto each of the ballast resistor pins and allow two connectors to be put on it. On one of the connectors on each side I put the original wires then I made a jumper that went on the other two, I made it long enough that I put the jumper behind the original harness and it is not noticeable Take Care Dennis C. .
