Butch,Don't know if this is the "correct" way, but this is how I did "43" my Petty Car. I built my own wiring harness from scratch. What I did was hook my small battery charger to the battery terminals. Stated at the 2 amp setting, 4 amp then 6 amp settings. I checked everything that should be hot with out the key on. After that test I turned on the ignition key and repeated the procedure. Even at 2 amp you could see I was getting power to the gauges, starter, etc. Not blowing any fuses or finding any hot wires, I hooked up the battery and everything worked. Have had no problems since.

Hello all. I think I've got the engine all wired up. I've gone back and forth and back again over the diagrams and I think i'm ready to put power to it. When I restores my instrument panel I checked it by hooking a battery charger to it and it worked well. Shouldn't the engine wiring work the same? I just want to put power to it and make sure it dosn't burn up. Then I'll feel like I can move on to the dash wiring. Any thoughts?
