RE: Carter AFB replacement?

I swapped out my mech fuel pump for a Holley Blue race pump. Now that's
a bit overkill but it certainly works. You must use a pressure regulator
and set it no more than 6.5psi for an Edelbrock. The manual that comes
with the Eddy specs 6.5psi as max. I run 5.5 to 6psi myself. I know for
a fact that too much pressure will even bend the floats all to heck.
Been there, done that :-(

There is a preferred Carter in line fuel pump that is a flow thru design
that you can use in conjunction with your mech pump. Many people put it
on a seperate switch so it can be turned on at start up or conditions
that are causing vapor lock. Electric pumps are usually required to be
near the gas tank and as high as possible. I only run the Holley pump
but I also have it on a switch to control it. That's kinda handy. It
acts like an anti-theft device too.
