RE: re 62 drums



I'd heard/read/dreamed? That you can use a 9/16 hole saw to cut the swedges off the studs and pull the drum, which I'm going to try on a spare I have. Sounds similar. /Butch/Ferndale, WA

To all    You do not have to do it that way.   you use a file or die grinder to take down the raised or swedge around each stud. Now thread a nut on flush and drive the stud in about 1/8 inch. not all the way,now remove the drum the same way as you would on later axles.  Before reinstalling pull studs back in full,and open stud holes up just a little. I have done this on all Mopars since i started working on them. This is the way i was taught by my dad and always works. 
  Side note for 10 inch breaks use all fifth ave  pieces including hardware and cylinders.  For 11inch dodge truck from the late 70’s will work again use all pieces.
