I'm no small block expert for sure, but the basic 340, casting 2780930, was made from 68-73. The T/A 340, casting 3577130, was a one year only for 1970.
The basic 340 came with a 4 Bbl intake and was rated at 230-275 Hp. The T/A 340 came with the six-pack intake and was rated at 290 Hp.

A friend called me and said he had bought an A100 Dodge from the early 60's It was origionally a 273 V8 but now has a 340. He was asking me about this engine. I know a little bit about some of them , but figgered someone here would know a lot more. I think they are all a higher performance engine. What years were they in production and what were the various horsepower ratings . Basically how were they equipped to achieve their stock horsepower? Thanks for any info........................MO{Steve Mick} http://stevemick1964dodge.shutterfly.com/pictures/5 ----Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
