${top_text_ad} Mike Buckel (Ramcharger) told me that they never broke these keyways, but old tire technology allowed for wheel spin which is not hard on components like that. As prevention they replaced keyways after each weekend series. He advised me to replace mine with the "modern" style diff and actually sold me a 65 Coronet 8 3/4. I wanted to go Dana, but it was at this point where he said they used 8 3/4" diffs with no issues, BUT THE NON-TAPERED STYLE. 65 is the year to get, they are 1" narrower and allow for bigger tires in the rear. These are a 1 year only axle so they are tough to find. With clever backspacing on the wheels you can get some serious meats back there. I have a modified 8.8" 15" steel wheel and can fit 295/50/15 with plenty of clearance, but I run 275/60/15 with more than an inch clearing the wheel lips. My experiences passed on along with advice from one of the Ramchargers. Steve C.
