Fuel tank sending unit

Here is a strange one for all of you out there.
I installed a new sending unit but it does not show the amount of fuel in the tank.
I started tracing the wires back to the ignition switch, found the one that feeds the dash and the sending unit itself.
The how wire feeding the unit is pulsing like a turnsignal.
At the switch it is solid 12 volts but at the plug to the dash it pulses.
What could be the problem.\
I would love to get this fixed before the Mopar Nats this weekend.
P.S. I pulled the unit and the wiring is intact.
