Think that is correct Herb. The other day wife went to NAPA to pick up a belt I had called about. I always talk to Steve and he gave me a price. Wife talked to somebody else on her arrival and gave them a part #, It was more than I told her. Steve made it correct in a matter of seconds. I think we all agree it is the personal that make the store. At your average parts store you at the mercy of an idiot.
Jim, those prices I did get off the internet and then called the store for availability.....of course they had to order it, but it was the same price as on the internet. I am personally not to keen on Auto Zone for alot of parts, don't think the quality is there. But for alot of other stuff I find them a bit cheaper.
My cousin owns a auto repair shop and he says "I will push my Ford before I buy a part from Auto Zone" He is a Ford man. Herb met him in Branson last year, loves a Mopar Show but wears his Ford hat. He built my 440 and its still loves to hop.

Better customer better pricing! Not long ago I needed a high beam for my 63 Fury and AutoZone informed me that they don't make them any more that I needed to go to a junk yard to find one. Stunned, I asked for the manager and was told the same thing they don't make parts for that old of a car anymore. When I explained that all older cars with four round headlights are the same well into the 70s, his reply was that he had been doing this for fifteen years and was sure he new more than some weekend mechanic. So I smiled and went across the street to Walmart and purchased all 4. To say the least I highly recommend people not go to the AutoZone in O'Fallon, Missouri. Nothing but knuckleheads working their. If it is not in the computer it is not made, funny part is they do have the books but know one knows how to use them. Sorry off the soap box. If you were a friend or a frequent customer, you would get a better price. then if you were a stranger In my experience here in New Jersey, It seems the chain stores hire people that are cheep and don't know a chevy to a ford. If it's not in the computer it doesn't excise. Where my b in law had parts books that went back to the sixtys. John Wask..

I wonder if there's a difference from store to store. I ask because I've been happy with my neighborhood NAPA (Smithtown, Long Island) for years and am very loyal. Prices always seem good, and the old veterans who run it certainly are more knowledgeable than the chains. I wonder if they're franchised and different owners charge different prices.
