Re: New Project




Hmmm,,,,,,,,guess I am not following this, it was my understanding that  
aftermarket convertors were the same from like 66 to early 80s, and it has 
been  a standard to replace the input shaft on our early cable shift trannys to 
accept  the latter TCs ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Please enlighten me,,,,,,

The crank center register for the torque converter is a  different 
size(larger) on the 340 than the 318. Someone used to make an  adapter/spacer to 
make up the difference. 
If you only have the 340 block,  use the 318 crank and rods. The crank is 
forged and the rods are bushed for  floating pins.

Ollie, actually that is not a bad  idea. I have a 68 340 block but it is 60 
over so don't know if it is still  usable. Let me do some thinking on this. 
Question will the 65 318 poly  trans bolt to a 68 340 block?
