I'd like to thank everyone for answering my question. When I changed the oil, I only got out 4 quarts after draining the filter overnight. I did run the car for a few minutes after changing the oil. I know now that it's going to take 4 1/2 to 5 quarts now so will first check to see if the dipstick tube is set firmly into the block. Worst case, I'll put the 5th quart in and notch the dipstick at that level for full.

The shorter filter is correct. If you can fit the longer filter on, a lot of people use the B RB style for the extra amount of filtering material it contains.
