Hi Doug,
The studs for the exhaust manifolds do go into the water jackets and if they 
were leaking would leak antifreeze not oil. Make sure the valve covers 
aren't warped and that there isn't any cracks around the bolt holes caused 
from the covers being tightened down too tight.  I would also check the back 
of the intake and oil sender area for possible leaks. Although anything is 
possible, I have never had a big block Chrysler engine leak oil from the 
head gaskets.
