I've seen much less on epay for more money than that; sounds like a great deal. Years ago I traded a complete 392 for a set of big block 915 heads (which were given to me). I've still got the 392, completely rebuilt, sitting on the stand waiting for the right project to come along. It was destined for my 65 Coronet but the rusties were too bad to save the car.

For that kind of money I would go for it. Finding a 392 hemi with all most all of the parts for $1000 is rare. If I were planning an engine swap and I had my druthers, I would swap a 392 hemi for a wedge block any day. They just look so coooool sitting in a b body engine bay. The make extreme torque and horse power to boot. I have been digging around and I did find a pic of a '64 Polara with a 392, and I did find the Hot Heads site (and adaptor plate). This engine is disassembled - it's all there except the intake and carb. The block has been to a machine shop, and has no cracks. He wants $1000. for everything. I didn't plan this path for this car, but I'm thinking it may be too good to pass up and a unique way to go. Please keep the comments coming, I'm on the fence! I know a 426 will, but I don't know about a 392. Can I use my small block Torqueflite with it? From what I've been able to determine, I mayneedan adaptor, but otherwise it should work. The transmission is freshly rebuilt, so that's why I wouldwantto keep using it if possible. I don't remember ever seeing a 392 in a '60s era Bbodybefore, but then again, my memory isn't all it used tobecracked up to be. Thanks in advance for your input.
