Re: Lubricating windows

When I did the back windows in my dart, I ended up taking the regulators all the way out. The scissors were bent. One was almost in a full circle. Flattened them back out in a vice. Took quite a bit of work to get them working right, and didnt have any donors I could put in to replace them with. Then I had to clean them up. I had to chip out the dried/hardened lube that had been on there from the factory and slowly hardened over 35 years. Then put a nice coat of Lithium on all moving parts from the gear, regulator, wheels, etc. They seemed to work great for about 8 years. Now, the other day, I noticed the regulator that had been the worst is starting to get stiff again.

All Said, about 4 hours for both rear windows.

Mine were hard to crank on my Polara Jeff. Take off the panels and use white lithium as suggested.

and on any/all hinge points......Merwin

This is a little offtopic year-wise, but I figure any
answers I get can
also be applied to my 64 Polara... how do I lube the
windows in my 68
Sport Fury? They roll down hard and I can't see
anything wrong. I can't
tell if the problem is with the mechanism or the
windows are just
binding in the tracks. Thanks
