I guess I never really thought about it, but we ran AV gas for a while and I always had trouble with Holleys and leaky gaskets. That's one of the biggest reasons we switched to Carters. I always just blamed it on the carbs. At the old Direct Connection racing seminars they always cautioned about using AV gas because it had different vapor properties and the carbs had to be re-tuned specifically for the AV gas. If you went a few rounds and dumped racing fuel in the car the carbs would need to be re-tuned. I asked a guy at a local car show about it (because his blown car smelled like he was runing it) and he said not to run it because it 'dries' out the carb gaskets and seals.
