That's exactly the way they were. The pipes actually at the end bent up just after the hanger then down at about a 45 degree angle and cut off parallel with the street somewhat like an opened up S. Then about 1/2 of an inch of the pointed tip was cut off parallel with the bumper. Also, a lot of the early Hemi cars came with single exhaust also!
