Figured out my starting problem (the solenoid was chattering). The shifter cable is slightly out of adjustment so the neutral safety switch is not making a good ground. Now if I can just figure out which way to adjust it........ I adjusted it originally with the pan off. I noticed last weekend when I drove it that one time it wouldn't crank so I punched it into gear then back to neutral, it then started. Then while driving it failed to shift one time from 2 - 3 (the tranny has a reverse pattern, manual shift valve body). Those two warning signs should have been the tip off but my lame brain didn't put 2 + 2 together. If I recall correctly, the cable is at full extension when in the neutral detent. So if that is true and it is barely moving enough to shift to the highest gear, then it would seem that I have to shorten it a little. ??????? Paul L.
