You are correct - the undersides were not painted black but a matt greyish colour. The wheel openings generally had overspray from painting the body sides.
The rear axle, driveshaft, and brake backing plates should be black while the drums were natural. Can't remember the springs, but grey rings no bells.
When it comes to areas not seen by the public, think "cheap". If no one is going to see it, why spend big bucks making it look pretty?

Those Mosher shots make me nervous. The factory color of the undersides of the body are not black. They are a lighter color like gray or greenish color- I'm color blind so I'm not really sure. While I think the suspension is correct, I feel less confident now seeing the wrong color for the underbody.Akron Don Gary H. wrote:I assume the Mopar pattern is generally the same so...http://www.moparaction.com/Article/PoP/PoP.html shows a very intense correct resto on a 1970 Challenger that may give you some reference photos. And some on early B Body cars.http://moparsbymosher.com/projects/hendricks62/assembly/frontend-01.htm shows a refreshed 1962 Plymouth front end assembly.http://www.moparsbymosher.com/projects/tonys64dodge/body&paint/undercarriage-03.html rear '64 DoggeIf you are consistent with what you do, yours will look fine. Do you mean the splash shields on the wheel side of the inner fenders? Thanks, Gary H. -----Original Message-----From: "MO ( Steve Mick)" Hi all,I am getting ready to paint firewall and inner fenders. Also front suspension.. They don't need to be exactly factory correct, but similar. I know the firewall and inner fenders are body color.. On the wheelside of the inner fenders, wrere they also body color or black?. I have painted the K frame a satin black. Any ideah on the upper A frames, lower control arms, spindle, and lower ball joint? If not factory correct, what colors did you paint yours to get a nice contrast and a factory appearance? Anything that was unpainted natural metal, I will paint it with a metal colored paint to keep from rusting. Thanks for any input...................MO
