Doug, there are 2 good articles in one of the Mopar magazines about this. The color is flat black, was meant to make the bright work on the grill pop. But it was sprayed up from underneath from a pit by a worker as the car rolled over. I've never seen one that was uniform. Usually you see the car color peeking out to various degrees, but mostly black. If it's been repainted, then you will generally see the complete car color or complete black in that area. Neither is "factory". I'm struggling with the issue myself. I have a red 64 Sport Fury survivor car. I need to get the car repainted, but don't want to lose the original patina, the factory slop work that makes it look like it just rolled off the factory line. /Butch/Ferndale, WA -----Original Message----- From: Douglas Sutherland [mailto:pluckedchickens@xxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Saturday, September 12, 2009 8:51 AM To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: paint color behind the '64 b-body grill? should it be the body color or black? If stock is black, is it gloss, matte or flat? Thanks! _________________________________________________________________ Your E-mail and More On-the-Go.
