The period correct battery on 59 to 64s had tar top battery's with the Forward Look MoPar Arrow molded on the side of the case, with green caps G24 red caps G27. And you can get a repop for around $250.00. On 65s they had tar tops with the updated MoPar logo on the case with green & red caps. So on 65s and newer you can kinda get away with a dealer battery with a tar top cover on it, but leaving the top flat with a sticker is incorrect if your trying to get a period look. I remember sometime back someone on the Forward Look site was making stickers to stick on the side of a generic battery to make it work for less $$. Also I see that Tar Topper http://www tartopper.com/ is going to be producing a MoPar tar top cover with correct caps in the next month or so. E-mail them for an update! So, if I can find whom is doing the stickers & tar topper produces their MoPar topper we will be able to disguise a generic acid battery to work for less than $250.00 Herb 1956 Plymouth Belvedere 361 1959 Coronet 326 Poly 1963 Fury 2D/HT 6.1 1963 Sport Fury Convertible 361 1970 Challenger RT 440 1999 Durango SLT 5.9 2006 300-C Heritage 5.7 2008 SRT-8 Magnum 6.1 St. Louis, MO. http://1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/mmo42009.html -------Original Message------- From: Stevan Miner Date: 8/30/2009 7:29:07 AM To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: Battery Hi Scott, I bought a Group 27 from my local Chrysler dealer for my 65 Satellite. I took off the top sticker and replaced it with a Mopar Performance one and it looks great.
