RE: Axle




Dont know about the Dana, but the 68 to 70 8 3/4 rears are wider than the tapered units.  They measure the same backing plate to plate, but the axels are longer.  I put a '68 housing from a GTX under my '63 and my tire/wheel combo no longer worked.  Did the same on a '64 Belvedere, but the tires weren't as close to begin with.  That info was on the tech pages of this web site I'm sure,, but I took the backing plate to backing plate info and ran with it.  Better attention on my part would have led me to the 66/67 units.
