Definately - there are some zinc supplements available in small bottles to prop up the newer oils. Can't find the links right now but they are out there. Shell Rotella had zinc but I've heard that it's being/been phased out too (although I have not verified this myself). Seems like the long term cost of zinc additives will eventually make "scrubbers" as expensive as rollers! I haven't had a scrubber fail yet (I know I'm tempting fate by actually typing that) but can't help but think the extra cost of the roller setup will save money long term. The motor is a 400 punched and stroked to a 451? i think, and it does have a ~.600" cam w/ solid lifters...non-roller. He had the Valvoline VR Racing oil in it and changed it to the diesel oil because he couldn't find the VR. He has not driven the car since the change, just started it 2-3 times since changing the oil. After the new oil, it started sounding funny. He checked valve lash and one was really loose. He's going to switch over to a roller setup so he doesn't have to screw with this oil mess anymore. He called the cam manufacturer and they said they continue to have issues w/ the new oils, and the zinc in the diesel oils is going to be reduced even more soon. Time to stock up in the VR when you can find it I guess! -- Bill M 65 Coronet 500 'vert http://1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/mmo62008.html 73 Dart Sport, 00 Cherokee, 01 Dakota ---- Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
