Correct. 3rd gear is drive (1:1).
The honda kicks your butt on the highway because of overdrive and probably 
also less wind resistance. The faster you drive, the more wind resistance 
pushes back, so this adds up faster at highway speeds.
FYI, my mom's 1991 Cutlass 3.3L didn't have overdrive either.
