Re: Cam Selection Question

I'd suggest you contact the cam manufacturers like Comp Cams and get their recommendation.  Go to Comp Cam's website and get a "fact sheet" so you have all the info available when you talk to them.  The Mopar .484 has been called old technology by the cam manufacturers, but of course they have a vested interest in you not buying the Mopar cam.

If you want a Mopar .484 cam, I've got a used one with correctly ID'd lifters I'll sell for a very reasonable price.

Subject: Cam Selection Question

I have a 383 that has an unknown non-stock cam in it that I need to
replace.  The engine is in my 63 Sport Fury.

I am seeing areas on the bottom of 4 lifters that indicate at some time
the lifters did not rotate.  I want to replace the cam before I do
damage.

The engine has been balanced and has some head work done but I don't
know the extent.  It is in a strictly street car with a 4-speed that
will never see a drag strip. I am running 3.23 rear ratio.

I am looking a the following cam, any comments on this cam or other
suggestions would be appreciated:

NEW - Hyd. - 284 / 284 Duration - 484 / 484 Lift
Street/Improved driveability
$214.95
MOPP5007697

This is a Mopar Performance Cam from Mancini.

Thanks
Dennis C.
