oil pan, torque converter

i have fabricated a new oil pan for my 65 belv from the dimensions listed in the tech ramblins section on oil pans. my question is the engine is a 383HP and it has a windage tray. the new pan has about a 1/8 inch clearance between it and the windage tray. is this going to be a problem? also how much clearance should i have between the bottom of the pan and the pickup?
next question is torque converter recommendations. i am looking at a 10 inch converter with 2600-2800 stall. would i be happy with this for a street car?
