I don't remember all the pros and cons I read, when searching the Internet... some said if you did a lot of driving the seals could break down, some said ATF does not perform as well as steering fluid once hot... But then there were a lot saying the same thing you said.. I used it forever without a problem.. from what I can gather a switch was made in the early 60's from ATF to power steering fluid, but no definitive answer as to when.. so I thought it best to use whatever kind of fluid the shop manual said... of course the shop manual is all about selling "Official" Mopar parts.. you'd think they would have the courtesy of saying "part no 2084329 power steering fluid" or "part no 2084329 automatic transmission fluid" instead of "part no 2084329, and we're not telling what it is, fluid" ;) Doug Daniel wrote: > > > what is wrong with useing atf in your power steering > = > = > =20 > > > 2084329 was / is a part number for Chrysler power > > steering fluid, afaik. > > >=20 > > > Thanks, > > > Gary H. > > >=20 > > > -----Original Message----- > > >=A0=20 > > > >"Never use ATF"... just wondering is "Fluid no. > > 2084329" ATF or Power=20 > > > >steering fluid > > > >=20 > >=20 > >=20 > > ---- > > Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one > > person -- directly to that person.=A0 I.e., send > > parts/car transactions and negotiations as well as other > > personal messages only to the intended recipient, not to the > > Clubhouse public address. I.e., send parts/car transactions and negotiations as well as other personal messages only to the intended recipient, not to the Clubhouse public address. This practice will protect your privacy, reduce the total volume of mail and fine tune the content signal to Mopar topic. Thanks!
