Re: Pertronix or Mopar?

That is why I went petronix. I did not have to change anything but the points. I like having my original distributer on my 383. And it performs very well for the price. I'm sure if I was doing time trials I would gravitate to a serious ignition system but for the street it's more than enough and my car starts on the first turn of the key.

I can't answer the output question but, I can say that I can't tell the
difference between the two in the end. The big plus for the Pertronix
system is it's stock appearance, were if you use a MoPar system on your pre
1971 car it sticks out like a sore thumb and is obviously incorrect for our
cars if period correct is what you are striving for. If that is of no
matter to you then the next step is ease of installation and that has to go
to Pertronix also. The MoPar system entails more modifications to your cars
systems with ultimately the same outcome.

I need to convert a 318 from points to electronic ignition. If I simply
replace the points and condenser with a Pertronix or Accel, will the
ignition system be as powerful as a stock Mopar electronic ignition?
