hummm, I remember the 60's very well as I never was into anything mind altering. The record was the first vehicle to turn a closed course record at over 200 MPH was a Mopar this same day, 40 years ago. It was the #88 Test mule, 69 Dodge Daytona. Several laps were run and the word at first was they were testing transmissions. OK, so they were also testing transmissions. It was Buddy Baker and the car has been found and is being restored?and may be?finished. ps, the rocket, if I remember correctly, did come from Huntsville as mentioned. We did a car show in August 1975. Gas was an amazing $.49 a gallon.
