Re: Installing Elec Distributor in 64 Dodge

Good message thread here. I'm going to be putting an electronic distributor in one of my 64 Sport Furys soon, 383cid. I see that Pertonix offers 3 versions and I don't know which to choose. My car will be a street car only, would appreciate any advice as to which model to buy. Thanks in advance.

Just my opinion, take it back!  Take a look at the Pertronix unit & coil
http://www.pertronix.com/default.aspx  I have never talked to anyone that
has had a better outcome with a MoPar unit than a Pertronix unit in a street
car.  Now that said, if your looking for the race/upgraded look of the MoPar
unit all I can say do a clean install!  If your trying to look as
stock/original as it came from the factory Pertronix is the only way to go.
Every thing installs in side your stock distributor DONE and your not
drilling holes, cutting into your harness, splicing wires and increasing the
load on your already fragile electrical system.  Just My 2C!

I bought the Mopar Performance Elec distributor kit with vac advance,
and new coil, and plan to install tonight in my 383. I have the old one
out. I am interested in any tips and suggestions from someone who has
done this before.
