no you can not go directly to a volt meter, you need to complete the existing circuit so battery will charge, so it is not necessary to even run the wires into the gauge if you are not going to use it, the amp meter is wired in series with the the charging system, and a volt meter needs to be wired in parallel with the system In a message dated 6/25/2009 7:58:33 P.M. U think that will be OK? I wouldnt be opposed to dumping the ammeter, do u just wire in a voltmeter at that point, or is there more to a voltmeter? thanks neal On 6/25/09, C Singleton <csingleton@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > wire size does matter. the ammeter is in series with the load and sees all > the amps the circuit has. small wire equals homemade fusible link, if you > know what i mean. i would get rid of the ammeter and instead. > > #10 wire is good for > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "neal zimmerman" <neal.zimmerman@xxxxxxxxx> > To: <1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Wednesday, June 24, 2009 11:20 AM > Subject: Re: wire gauge question > > >> >> thanks dodger Im on my way >> neal zimmerman, eugene oregon >> >> On 6/24/09, Dodger7998@xxxxxxx <Dodger7998@xxxxxxx> wrote: >>> >>> >>> wire size will not matter, the bigger the better up to a certain >>> point,,,,,,as I recall it is #10 originally, which is heavy enough to >>> handle, it is >>> connections of it that cause the problem, like at the bulkhead connector, >>> and the terminals on back of gauge, >>> >>> >>> In a message dated 6/24/2009 9:27:01 A.M.
